Vanessa's Afghan - Summer 2004 Posted by Hello

The beginning

I have been creating web pages of my files and projects - I LOVE html! But thought I could blog my progress. I hadn't knitted or crocheted in well over 20 years. While cleaning out a closet I found a quilt that I had started about 26 years ago when my son was an infant. Along with that I found my old knitting needles and crochet hooks. Being summer I had time on my hands to play! So after a few swatches with left over yarn, I picked up some pink baby yarn and crocheted a baby blanket for friends having their first baby - a girl. I used an aligned shells pattern. I was "hooked". My daughter was home for the summer to take her nursing boards and then off to San Francisco to live and work as a nurse. With her cute little pouty face that said that she didn't have one, I jumped in and made her a huge afghan using Homespun 10 skeins Adirondack 319 “Dusty greens and mauve recall the distant mountains”Finished Afghan = 68” x 45”. I made a few others this past summer, and will post about them later.
