Update and February Vacation

Haven't posted much here since I have put most of my stuff @ other pages

We spent the week visiting daughter Vanessa in San Francisco.

I did finally get the charity baby blanket off the needles for Connecticut Childrens' Medical Center - I swear I'll never work with icky acrylic again!

I did have an opportunity to visit 2 yarn shops though ;).

Art Fibers web site doesn't do them justice. They carry only their own yarns but have a wonderful selection. The paper flyer I picked up said that they will create a FREE customized pattern for you when you buy their yarn. The staff was very friendly and seemed very helpful. I wish they had told my about the pattern thing though - I KNOW I would have bought the yarn for that first sweater if I knew they could help fit it! We ran out of time and hubby had been so patient about the yarn thing... They call themselves a knitting lounge ( and I know SF has a space premium) but it consists of about six dish chairs and a table. The really cool thing is that since they make all their own yarns they can provide yarn to play with or Taste as is their TM. You can even sit their and swatch the yarn you want to work with or order 5 yard samples by mail!!

ImagiKnit was a more comfortable fit for my husband with sofas and magazines and they have a great selection of yarns. They also provide a swift and yarn roller to roll your hanks right at the store! I was a little disappointed though when I went to the register and was only spending about $35. I was picking up some Eros Plymouth color 3257 yarn ($10.50) for a scarf my daughter wanted and didn't have # 15 US 14" needles with me. I picked up a short pair ($10.75) and was told I should use longer ones. When I asked if they carried the longer ones I was told that I could look, while she took care of another customer - who of course was buying much more than I :(

I also picked up an Inox # US 6 29" circular ($6.30) since I still feel uneasy about the Denise needles - I worry that it will unscrew as I work. I'm using them for the Clapotis and took the Denise on the airplane since I wasn't quite sure what would be allowed. Found out you can take any needle or hook on board. I love the Addi's and hope that I will like the nickle plated Inox.

I also picked up Patons Upside-Downers Pullover Sweater booklet for $3.95.
