Saturday: Hurricane Rita, Cloths, Socks, Bear and planes

Pixie Sticks, Tolland, CT Shipped off 25 more packages of cloths and soap to DC for displaced veterans. Looks like, with Rita, we'll keep going. Had Open House on Monday, K/C club Tuesday, Dept. Meeting Wednesday, but did manage to get the felted vase done, one sock finished except for the Kitchener stitch (video). I was happily working on the second sock and almost done with the toe decrease when one of my needles decided to slide out and drop to the floor - YIKES! I'll look at it later and see if I picked up all the stitches correctly. Need to make some progress on the Bobbi Bear today. Tomorrow is the fly-in and I may just do that trial lesson!

Sunday: Vase, Bear, Peppers & Babysitting

Yesterday was Felted Vase class, and somehow I got convinced to take a Bobbi Bear class today. Now why does anyone needs to make a hand knitted bear for $65 plus the cost of new needles? Who has US 17 24" circs and US 17 dps? Only another $15... This $80 bear ought to be beautiful! Add to this the $22 shakespeare yarn (color 3) and 15 dps for the vase, and I think I've got a serious addiction going here. I've also signed up for the sweater class for Bobbi beginning on 10/23 ;)

Last night while we babysat MP, I made a huge pot of sauce and some stuffed red peppers to send off to a GF who is laid up with a knee prob.

I've almost finished decreasing the toes on my socks, got a few more rows done on the entrelac, and just finished my 9th face cloth for Katrina. Tomorrow night is Open House at school and knitting/crochet club for the kids starts Tuesday. I have yet to work on a single stitch of something of mine during club, but the kids make it worth it. Such connections!

Found an interesting on-line book too.

AND, I admit it, I'm becoming a bag-o-holic! Check out these supplies: Supplies @ joggles.com Fabric By The Pound Mill Ends

Cloths and Sock Cartoon

Sock Lover - cute Yesterday was a down day since I felt like a sledge hammer had hit me in the sinuses. Did managed to get another Cloth for Katrina done. That makes 3 knitted and 1 crocheted. We had about 25 knitters and crocheters in my room on Thursday and Friday after school. Looks like we have about 30 Cloths for Katrina done, packaged up with bars of soap and ready to be shipped off tomorrow after school! The "official" start of the Needle Arts Mentoring Program (aka Knitting and Crocheting Club) doesn't start until the 20th. We plan to have students make cloths as their first project. I even got some $ donations from friends to buy more soap and to help with shipping costs!

Cloths for Katrina, Club and gift

Tonight a young woman gifted me with this book. She had been hinting that she might want to learn to knit. I patiently waited until enough time had gone by, that I was convinced that she was serious, after mentioning it a few times. I gave her with a pair of needles and some yarn. I had cast-on, and done a couple of rows. I showed her the basic knit stitch. Bless her heart; she spent over an hour just repeating the knit stitch. He husband wanted her to make a Dr. Who Scarf for him! They told me tonight that she has since signed up for a couple of beginning knitting classes at work. Another convert – I love it! Colin, thank you for the book! Not necessary, but a very pleasant surprise! And yes, you can make these face/dish cloths! Tomorrow is the first Cloths For Katrina knit-in at school. I can't wait to see how it goes. I even stopped after work today and picked up cookies for the kids! The SP box is packaged, but I somehow lost the addy and couldn't stop and mail it off - on the list for tomorrow. Other than the wicked cold that I inherited from Phil, things are good!
